05 Days – Scottish Highlands

Day 1:
Lake District – Windermere – Glasgow

Begin the day traveling through the stunning Lake District National Park in Cumbria.
Admire breathtaking landscapes, lush woodlands, and scenic lakes in this World Heritage Site.
Reach Windermere, a picturesque town by England’s largest natural lake.

Enjoy free time exploring Windermere’s natural charm and cultural highlights.
Take in views of the serene lake and the town’s historic beauty.
After lunch, continue the journey northward towards Scotland.
Arrive in the vibrant city of Glasgow later in the day.
Visit the exterior of the magnificent Glasgow Cathedral, rich in history and Gothic architecture.
Though we won’t enter, the cathedral’s presence is striking and photo-worthy.
Explore more cultural and historic landmarks in Glasgow.
Absorb the unique mix of modernity and heritage throughout the city.
End the day with dinner and rest for the next day’s adventures.

D = Dinner

Day 2:
Glasgow – Loch Lomond – Fort William – Scottish Distillery – Loch Ness

Begin the day heading to Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park.
Enjoy an optional boat cruise on Loch Lomond with tea or coffee, admiring Highland views.
Travel onward to Fort William and ascend Aonach Mòr via cable car (weather permitting).
Visit a traditional whisky distillery for a guided tour and tasting session.

Pause at the Commando Memorial to honor WWII British Commandos.
Stop by Neptune’s Staircase, an impressive 8-lock canal system by Thomas Telford.
Watch boats navigate the 19-meter elevation change over a quarter mile of locks.
Continue the journey through stunning Highland landscapes.
Reach the legendary Loch Ness, famous for its vast depth and the tale of Nessie.
Capture scenic views and enjoy the mystery surrounding this iconic loch.
Note: The distillery visit may be shifted to Day 5 if not completed today.
Conclude the day with meals and rest.

Day 3:
Isle of Skye / Inverness

After breakfast, begin a scenic drive through the Highlands toward the Isle of Skye.
Stop at the iconic Eilean Donan Castle for photos and breathtaking views.
Cross the famous Skye Bridge to reach Scotland’s largest and most dramatic island.
Enjoy stunning views of the Red Cuillin Mountains along the east coast.

Arrive in Portree, the island’s quaint capital, with leisure time to explore.
Continue to the Trotternish Peninsula, home to natural wonders like the Old Man of Storr.
Marvel at the unique sea cliffs of Kilt Rock and dramatic landscapes throughout the route.
Experience the raw, untouched beauty of Skye’s cliffs, lochs, and valleys.
Take in peaceful Highland scenery and unforgettable photo opportunities.
Later, return to Inverness where the evening is free for dining and exploration.
Dinner is not included tonight, allowing you to try local cuisine at your own pace.
Rest and prepare for the next day’s journey.

Day 4:
Cairngorms national park – Loch Morlich – Edinburgh Castle – Forth Road

Begin the day with a drive through Cairngorms National Park, the UK’s largest and most majestic mountain park.
Pause at Loch Morlich, a serene lake with sandy beaches surrounded by forests and snow-capped peaks.
Continue to the historic town of Stirling for free time, lunch, and exploration near Stirling Castle.

Head to the cultural heart of Scotland — Edinburgh.
Visit the iconic Edinburgh Castle, home to state apartments and ancient crown jewels.
Walk down the Royal Mile, soaking in centuries of Scottish history.
View the impressive St Giles’ Cathedral with its unique crown-shaped spire.
Along the Royal Mile, pass landmarks like Calton Hill, the National Monument, and Nelson Monument.
Also see the Scottish Parliament and the Queen’s official residence, Holyrood Palace.
Enjoy the city’s artistic side with views of the Scottish National Gallery.
Wrap up the day with panoramic views of the Forth Road and Rail Bridges.
Capture final photos of Edinburgh’s skyline before preparing for the next adventure.

Day 5:
Falkirk – Kelpies

After breakfast visit to the Falkirk Wheel, a remarkable rotating boat lift that connects the Forth and Clyde Canal with the Union Canal.

Finally, you will set your sights on The Kelpies, colossal 30-meter-high horse-head sculptures sculpted by the talented artist Andy Scott. Completed in October 2013, The Kelpies stand as a monumental tribute to Scotland’s rich horse-powered heritage.

Later you will board your coach and commence your return journey to London.
